摘要:
In the first part of the talk, I present a cross-linguistic study on the nominal right node raising construction (NRNR) in (1-3) and an analysis that involves multi-dominance and multi-valuation. I argue against the across-the-board movement account and the ellipsis account. This analysis is compatible with an agree based approach to nominal concord but not the morphological approach.

b. John's and Mary's students are a couple.
(3) a. John's tall and Mary's short student are a couple.

Then I compare the right node raising construction in the NP domain with the one in the TP domain in (4) (Grosz 2015) and present a novel asymmetry between N and T in multi-valuation. The asymmetry is accounted for if one assumes particular feature setups on N and T nodes.
(4) John is proud that Bill and Mary is glad that Sue have travelled to Cameroon.
In the last bit, I specify the implications of my analyses on case matching, NP ellipsis, closest conjunct agreement, and processing. I discuss the possibility to extend the empirical scope to nominal left node constructions in (5) (Corbett 1979).
