Dr. Henrison Hsieh received his BA in Linguistics and Computer Science from Boston University, followed by his PhD in Linguistics from McGill University. Prior to joining NTHU, he served as a Posdoctoral Fellow at the National University of Singapore (under Prof. Michael Yoshitaka Erlewine) and at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (under Prof. Yu-Yin Hsu). His research deals with issues in Syntax, Semantics, and their interface, with a primary focus on Tagalog, a major Austronesian language spoken in the Philippines. His work draws on a number of methodologies (including his own intuitions as a speaker of the language) to investigate understudied aspects of the language and further develop syntactic and semantic theory.
